Periodontal Treatment
First Visit : As a new patient your first visit at Amberly Family Dentistry will be a thorough comprehensive exam which will include Xrays, periodontal charting, oral cancer screening and establishing a treatment plan. Dr.Chelury strongly believes that the mouth is the window to the rest of the body. Research has established a strong correlation between periodontal disease or gum disease and systemic conditions such coronary artery disease and diabetes. Hence it is important for patients to keep up with their regular cleaning and check ups. At your first visit we will come up with a Tx plan to help maintain your gum health and also treat other oral conditions such dental caries.
Gingivitis and Periodontitis
The perio charting and Xrays during your first visit will determine if you have inflammation of the gum tissues (gingivitis) or involvement of the deeper gum tissue and bone.
Some people will need a deeper periodontal cleaning to help stabilize their gum disease and this is usually done in 2 visits. We will also determine a recall protocol for each individual patient based on their disease status. To know more about gum disease and proper technique of brushing and flossing please follow this link
